                                                                              ABSTRACT

Performance appraisal is a process of assessing or evaluating the performance of employees on their job in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses so as to improve upon their performance. Employees Performance appraisal policy has been viewed by organizations and human resources practitioners as an effective tool for human resources management. However, effective performance appraisal policy remains a practical challenge to managers and employees because of cognitive, motivational and behavioural factors. At an organizational level, the performance appraisal policy impacts other human resources policies as well as organizational strategy. The effectiveness of an organization’s performance appraisal policy is a prerequisite for ensuring the success of its selection, training and employee performance. At a strategic level, the need for rapid and effective organizational changes in today’s dynamic social, economic and political environment requires that employees continually re-align their performance with the evolving goals and objectives of the organization. The need to continually re-align employee performance characterizes many organizational units which continue to struggle with getting their employees to embrace the philosophy and practices that are geared at enhance employee performance. Questionnaires were administered to employees at UBA Bank and interviews were also conducted to seek information for the study. Result from the study revealed that only the human resource department was responsible for the design and implementation of performance appraisal. Again, it was revealed that the time feedback were given to appraises were not consistent. Furthermore, the performance appraisal was characterized by biases and impartiality during the appraisal process leading unacceptable ratings scores. It was recommended that the Human Resource Department atUBA Bank should involve other stakeholders such as appraisers and appraises during the design of appraisal and its implementation.

                                                                         ABSTRACT
The centre focus of this research is to find out about business funding patterns by Nigeria financial institutions. The research work also carried out in order to know the benefits to be derived from this research activities. The project contains five chapters with different features, therefore, chapter one deals with the introduction, background of the study, statement of the problems, statement of hypothesis, objectives of the study, significance of the study, scope of the study and limitations of the study. Chapter two, focus attention on the literature review, historical background of the case study, concepts of finance, classification of financial institutions, the various funds patterns by financial institutions and roles of commercial banks in economic development in Nigeria and so on. Chapter three gives a comprehensive explanation on research methodology, research design, sources of data collection, population, sample and the preparation of research instrument. Chapter four deals with the presentation and analysis of data, research findings and testing of hypothesis. Chapter five deals with summary, recommendations and conclusions.

                                                                               ABSTRACT
This research work examined the relevance of financial ratio analysis in the appraisal of small scale business with particular reference to Mr. Biggs fast food in cross river state. The study examined the establishing of the extent to which accounting ratio can be used to interpret accounting records of small scale business, finding and analysing the meaning of financial ratio analysis to the researcher knowledge and understanding of financial statement of the company, to establish the effect of ratio analysis on the users of financial statement and to highlight available ratios for measuring the true state of performance of company. The data were collected from both primary and secondary sources, while primary data was collected by the use of questionnaires; the secondary data were based on readings from textbooks, internet and journals. Data from the response to questionnaire was presented using the statistical tool Chi- square. From the analysis, the findings showed that non challant attitude in the use of financial statement affects small scale business; obsolete use of data affects small scale business and also that lack of competent management affect small scale business. It was however recommended that the retained earnings of the small scale business should be properly invested in order to have more capital for business.
